Chris Hollenbeck's journey into the AV industry began with a childhood filled with music, a fascination for
technology, and an unforgettable surround-sound Top Gun moment. Inspired by the experience of hearing cinematic audio at home, he transitioned that passion into a full-fledged career working with some of the most innovative and integrated systems in the industry today.
He’s especially drawn to high-end, complex projects that bring together AV, lighting, shading, and control systems into a single, cohesive experience. “The most rewarding part is seeing everything come together after a long construction process,” he shares. “All the moving parts working in harmony—that’s the fun of it.” One standout memory? Assuring a skeptical new client that their previous “stellar AV guy” in another state was, in fact, a family member of his. That moment of connection laid the foundation for an eight-year relationship, and it’s a perfect example of how trust, transparency, and service come together in his approach.
He recently stepped into a leadership position and was humbled by the praise received from long-standing clients and builders when introducing his sales replacement—several even noting the “big shoes” left to fill. That kind of feedback is a testament to the relationships he’s built and the high standard he holds himself to.
Outside of work, he finds balance in yard work paired with good music, collecting and shooting firearms, riding his motorcycle for what he calls “wind therapy,” and spending time with his 2- year-old grandson, who’s quickly become one of the greatest joys in his life. His dream travel destination? The French Riviera—particularly Monaco to watch an F1 race, enjoy the scenery, and, of course, the cuisine.
When asked what keeps him motivated, he shared a quote that resonates with many: “When there is no consequence for poor work ethic, and no reward for good work ethic, there is no motivation.” And when it comes to growth, he’s all in. “For a long time, I stuck to what I was comfortable selling. But stepping out of that and embracing new technologies, like lighting design, has been incredibly rewarding.”
