Employee Spotlight: Where Technology Meets the Way People Live

JASON HANIFAN

Director of Sales

Over 25 years ago, Jason Hanifan discovered something most people spend a career searching for — a field that combined everything he loved. Technology, problem-solving, design, and the chance to genuinely improve the way people experience their homes. What drew him in then still drives him today: the belief that luxury residential technology is uniquely positioned at the
crossroads of engineering and lifestyle, where the right solution doesn’t just work — it transforms.

The projects Jason gravitates toward most are the ones where technology disappears entirely into the home. He thrives when brought in early alongside builders, architects, and interior designers, collaborating from the start to shape lighting, audio, video, networking, and control systems that feel like a natural extension of the architecture. “I especially enjoy solving complex
design challenges,” he says, “and developing the standards and workflows that help teams execute more efficiently and consistently.” Whether he’s crafting a client solution or refining how a team operates, Jason brings the same instinct — simplify what’s complex and build something that lasts.

That same approach defines how he shows up for clients. Whether working with homeowners,
builders, designers, or internal teams, Jason leads with relationship first. He takes time to understand each person’s priorities before offering solutions — because, as he puts it, “when you take time to understand what matters most to someone, you can make real progress.” He finds deep satisfaction in being part of a shared vision, where everyone — client and team alike
— is working toward the same outcome.

Some moments stay with you. For Jason, it was walking a client through their home after a full Lutron Ketra lighting installation — watching the system shift from crisp daylight tones to warm evening scenes, and hearing the client stop and say, “Wow… this doesn’t even feel like the same house.” Months later, that lighting system had become the most talked-about feature in the home. The clients used color and scene control to “paint” their space for gatherings, creating
something immersive and entirely their own. It’s a reminder, Jason says, that “we’re not just installing technology — we’re helping create environments where families live, entertain, and make memories.”

What surprises many people about Jason is what came before the AV world. He spent eight years in the United States Marine Corps, serving as both enlisted personnel and an officer. During Naval Aviation training, he was also Director of the Naval Aviation Choir and a member of the Turbo Tones barbershop group — performing for multiple Presidents and at the White House Christmas Party. A classically trained musician and decorated Marine: a combination that speaks to the discipline, range, and commitment he brings to everything he does. Outside of work, that same energy goes into cooking, reading, films, music, shooting sports, and tabletop gaming — and most importantly, into his five daughters, who inspire him every day.

Ask Jason what superpower he’d want for this role and he doesn’t hesitate: the ability to visualize and simulate an entire project before construction even begins — to see every detail, anticipate every challenge, and optimize the client experience from day one. “Mind reading would be a close second,” he adds, “especially during client discovery meetings.” To stay sharp, he follows the Leveraging AI podcast by Isai Meteis and keeps current through CE Pro, Residential Systems, and CEDIA events — always looking for what’s next.

His mantra says everything about how he works: “Technology should enhance the experience — not complicate it.” It’s the standard Jason holds himself to in every project, every relationship, and every room he helps bring to life.
