Employee Spotlight: Designing Sound, Creating Solutions, and Stealing the Show
Matt Ryan
Design Engineer
This month, we’re thrilled to spotlight Matt—a seasoned pro in the AV world with over 30 years of experience, a love for creative problem-solving, and a hidden talent for turning the office into a concert hall. His journey began with a dream to design guitar pedals while studying Electronics Technology. That dream quickly turned into hands-on bench tech work at an audio manufacturer… until the repetition got old, and Matt found a new thrill: setting up massive sound and video systems for trade shows.
“It was dynamic and exciting,” he recalls. “That’s when I knew I was in the right part of the industry.”
Matt thrives on projects that push boundaries—especially those that require out-of-the-box thinking. “If it’s something out of the norm that makes me stop and really think, I’m all in,” he says. Tools like AutoCAD help him bring those ideas to life with precision and creativity. But one of his favorite moments? Showing clients what’s actually possible. “They come in with an idea of how it works… and I love showing them how much more it can do.”
When he’s not translating tech into transformative spaces, Matt’s making the office a little more musical. Ask anyone—there’s nothing quite like when Matt breaks out his guitar or keyboard for an impromptu jam session (a definite fan favorite among the team).
Fun fact? He’s a published musician and singer-songwriter who spends his off-hours immersed in music production, woodworking, and electronics—especially anything related to audio.
Matt’s philosophy at work is as thoughtful as it is effective:
“You teach people how to treat you.” —Bob Hartunian
“Everything should be made as simple as possible—but not simpler.” —Albert Einstein
If Matt had a superpower? He’d read clients’ minds—though we’d argue he already comes pretty close. His deep expertise, creative mindset, and easygoing vibe have made him not only a standout in the AV industry, but a beloved part of the Texadia culture.
Here’s to Matt—for making complex systems sing, building smarter solutions, and occasionally bringing down the house with a guitar solo.
