Best Product Winners
Every year, CEDIA awards the greatest achievements in various technology categories. Best Product Winners were awarded for everything from wellness to business software to cabling products. Control4’s OS 3 won Best Whole House Control, and Best Outdoor AV was awarded to Coastal Source for its 12.0 Line Source Bollard. Samsung took the prize for Best Soundbar with the HW-Q90 Soundbar, and Barco Residential holds the title for Best Projector. You can read the entire list here.
LG Transparent OLED
One of the most exciting spectacles this year was LG’s Transparent OLED screen. With a 38% transparency level, this display is much more transparent than conventional LCDs and can be looked through like glass. In full HD resolution and only 6.6 mm deep, the thin transparent screen is designed for signage use, rather than a TV. We have certainly never seen anything like it before!
Sonos’ New Outdoor Speaker
The popular wireless speaker brand Sonos unveiled its brand new Sonos Move (pictured above), the waterproof and drop-resistant speaker. Sonos Move can be controlled through Bluetooth when Wi-Fi isn’t available, making it perfect for outdoor adventures in the wild. Sonos also released its new One SL speaker, a microphone-free version of its high-quality One speaker. This is an ideal solution for anyone concerned about privacy who wants to enjoy music without a voice-assistant. The One SL also makes for a great second speaker in a whole home audio system or home theater.
Sony’s $1 Million Crystal LED Display
Yes, you read that correctly. Another ‘wow’ factor on the floor was Sony’s new crystal LED screen, valued at $1 million. With 1,000 nits of peak brightness and a pixel pitch of 1.2mm, the television will still look bright even in a daylight-drenched space. The screen is also massive, available in a 220" 4K model. The Crystal LED may not be practical for everyday households, but it was quite a memorable feature of this year’s CEDIA.
