AV Trends to Watch for 2017
The world and everything in it is ever-changing, but technology arguably changes faster than ever. Even if you’re a tech guru or an AV professional, it can be difficult to keep up with the rate of change. Popular technology from 20 years ago is most likely obsolete at this point (VCR, anyone?).
So, if you’re feeling lost in the whirlwind, here are four popular AV trends that you will be seeing a lot more of in the coming year.
1. Video Walls: Video walls and digital signage are not brand new, but they are becoming more popular as technology is improving. The main improvements are: 1.) they’re becoming more interactive with users, and 2.) the pixel distance has gotten shorter, which makes for a clearer and brighter image.
2. 4K Video: 4K – or ultra high definition (UHD) – video is an emerging technology that’s becoming increasingly affordable for the average home or business. The challenge with 4K is that the data rate is 4 times that of a standard HDTV, so it requires a larger bandwidth and cables that can handle the faster data speed. The picture quality and clarity, however, are incredible.
3. Huddle Rooms: These are smaller and more intimate conference rooms that businesses are beginning to move toward for better communication and more flexibility. Huddle rooms are equipped with audio and video technology to do conference calls, video conferencing, presentations and more.
4. Streaming Over IP: Streaming has become an increasingly popular way to watch movies, play games, and catch up on the latest TV shows. The AV world is still working to perfect streaming over IP – specifically things like lowering the bandwidth required and improving the quality – but the technology is constantly improving and is about to explode.
While it’s nearly impossible to keep up with everything, it’s good to take note of these and other technology trends that could provide solutions for your home or business.
