How Good Can Smart Lighting Be?

For anyone that loves new technology or has a passion for interior design, smart lighting control is an exciting new addition to any home. While smart lighting has been eagerly buzzed about in recent years, there’s a wide range of LED lighting products available to choose from.

Low-End, DIY Smart Lights 

Off-the-shelf smart bulbs by brands like Philips and Wyze let you change the color of lights from your smartphone and even automate lights to follow a schedule. The color options are impressive, and you can sync lights to home voice assistants. 

But these products only work wirelessly, which can be unstable in large homes or require many bridges. Most DIY solutions don’t include wall switches that let you easily adjust light settings across many lights. As it turns out, retrieving your phone to switch light settings is much less practical than quickly tapping a button on the wall. 

If all you want is to color-control and automate a few lights in the house, brands like Philips or Wyze do a fine job.
