What Are My Options for In-Ceiling Speakers?

In-ceiling audio isn’t one-size-fits-all. You can get the power output and visibility you desire with a wide range of in-ceiling options from brands like James Loudspeaker. James Loudspeaker is one of our preferred hidden audio manufacturers that builds in-ceiling speakers in various sizes and configurations.

Want less of a visible footprint on the ceiling? James Loudspeaker’s Small Aperture Ceiling Speaker is only 3 inches wide in a circular or square design. If you want a little more power, another version is available in 7-8 inches wide. James Loudspeaker also offers larger 2-way and 3-way in-ceiling speakers and even in-wall subwoofers for low bass frequencies.

Whether you’re building a whole-home audio system or surround sound setup, there’s a solution from James Loudspeaker that provides just what you need.

How Is It Installed?

To install in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, we need to run data and power wiring through the ceilings first. For this reason, it’s best to install hidden audio during a home build or renovation before ceilings are finished and sealed.

We’ll design a wiring map that plots where wires, speakers, and system controls will be located. Behind the ceiling finish, we’ll install brackets that hold the speaker in place. The speaker is then covered with a flat, paintable grille that blends into the surrounding ceiling surface.

And what about the media controller, amplifier, and other equipment? We can store AV hardware in a closet or utility room that also stays hidden. In-ceiling speakers will connect back to this utility rack, and you’ll wirelessly control the speakers from any location. We can integrate speakers with your home automation system, so you can manage everything from a single device.
