Plus, Experience Ketra Lighting In Our Dallas Showroom!

Imagine your favorite restaurant, bar, or hotel. The one with the amazing atmosphere you love spending hours inside. What’s stopping your home or business from looking like that?

Odds are, it’s your lighting. To create an inviting or intriguing atmosphere, lighting can’t be an afterthought. You could have the most amazing carpets, wooden floors, wall paints, and décor—but if your lighting is lackluster, it will immediately fall flat.

An intentionally designed lighting system must consider how light accentuates the architecture, makes colors pop, and creates a certain mood. When we’re working on a lighting design, we opt for Ketra fixtures by Lutron, the ultimate smart lighting solution.

With millions of color-changing possibilities and smooth, precise dimming, Ketra is luxury in lighting form. Here are techniques you can use with Ketra smart lighting to elevate your home or business. And if you want to see lighting design and lighting control in action? Schedule your visit to our Dallas showroom!

Direct vs. Indirect Light

Lighting layers make a world of a difference. Compare a room with only overhead lights to one with lamps, wall sconces, and maybe even linear lights. With more fixtures throughout the room, they can be set to lower brightness levels, guiding the eye through the space and providing functional light while enhancing interior design.

Lighting layers are created by effectively combining direct and indirect light. Direct light creates crisp shadows and focused visibility for activities like working, cleaning, cooking, and reading. By contrast, indirect light creates softer shadows and ambient illumination through the room.

To achieve indirect, ambient light, we may use Ketra’s G2 linear fixtures suspended from a ceiling or recessed in-ceiling lights. For direct task lighting, we’d choose Ketra’s S38 cylinder pendants or S30 track lighting for focused illumination.

Beam Angles & Intensity

Layering lighting relies on customizing an LED’s beam angle and intensity. Wide floods of light will fill the room and bathe walls and soft light. But to draw attention to specific features like works of art or architectural details, we want narrow beam widths and more intense, focused brightness.

Within the Lutron lighting app, you can adjust the intensity and beam width of your Ketra lights to deliver accent, task, or ambient light. The same lighting fixture can illuminate a wide flood of light across a wall or tight beam angles to highlight specific features.

With proper lighting aim and focus, we’ll draw your eye to specific elements and highlight room contours. Shelves, cabinets, staircases, wooden beams, angled ceilings, artwork, sculptures—all these features can be emphasized with customizable lighting angles and intensity, adjustable anytime through the Lutron control system.

Making Colors Pop with Ketra Vibrancy

Ketra provides infinite shades of white: golden white, yellow-white, snow white, blue white—it goes on and on. With Ketra's unique Vibrancy technology, lighting designers can fine-tune white light to make colors in your space ‘pop.’

Ketra’s Vibrancy feature lets you adjust the individual hues within the white light spectrum, enhancing the way light interacts with décor and materials in your space. By refining the color makeup of white light, Ketra brings out the richness and detail of your surroundings.

A perfect example of this can be seen in our very own Ketra showroom in Dallas, where Ketra’s downlights direct light onto colorful Beatles artwork, making the colors appear more vibrant and realistic. Meanwhile, Ketra's S30 downlights illuminate work surfaces with precision task lighting, creating an ideal blend of functionality and aesthetic brilliance.

Unlike standard lighting, which adjusts the color of light as a whole, Ketra's Vibrancy focuses on fine-tuning the white light’s individual color components. This allows you to control how light reflects off specific objects, whether you want to emphasize a particular material or bring artwork to life.
