1. LED Bulbs Last Longer 

LED lights generate much less heat than incandescent or CFL bulbs, letting them shine for up to 60,000 hours before needing to be replaced. That’s 133 times longer than incandescent and 10 times longer than compact fluorescent (spiral-shaped) bulbs. This means you’ll replace LED light bulbs much less frequently, reducing consumption and waste. 

2. They Use Less Energy

LEDs use much less power than other light bulb models—up to 75 percent less electricity, in fact! This is because LED lights apply 95% of their energy usage into producing light, so only 5% of power is burned off as heat. By comparison, incandescent bulbs only use 2% of their energy to create light—wasting 98 percent of the electricity they consume! 

3. LED’s Directional Light Emissions 

If you look at a LED light, you’ll notice that they only emit light 180 degrees in a forward direction. The light doesn't extend to the back end of the bulb like you’ll see with incandescent and CFL lights. No energy is wasted on pointlessly illuminating behind the bulb, only to the front. 

4. They Can Be Dimmed 

LED lights are fully dimmable, and with a sophisticated fixture like those by DMF Lighting or Ketra, you can dim your lights as low as one percent brightness. Dimming also reduces energy consumption and extends your light bulb’s lifespan. So if you prefer cozy, dim lighting anyway, LED lights offer a win-win installation. 

5. Fixtures Can Be Automated to a Schedule
