Lighting Design with DMF’s Small-Aperture Fixtures

DMF’s LED Lighting Fixtures Aren’t One-Size-Fits-All

We’ve written on this blog about how the key to great lighting design is in layers. Ideally, a room shouldn’t be illuminated only by a few overhead lights. Mixing ambient, accent, and task lighting layers will bring depth and emotion to the room with the freedom to add or remove lights for life’s different activities.

When we need to source LED lighting fixtures for a lighting design project, time and time again, we look to DMF Lighting. DMF engineers and manufactures high-end LED light fixtures with modular housings for its range of lighting products. DMF’s warm-dim and color-tunable technology make it the perfect choice for smart lighting control systems.

Last year, DMF unveiled its new small aperture downlight, a revolutionary product for the lighting industry. Here’s what small aperture lighting means and why it can do wonders for your Dallas, TX, home.

How Small Is Small-Aperture?

“Aperture” is a term commonly used in photography and the lighting world. It essentially means the size of an opening. When it comes to small aperture lighting, we’re talking about a very small hole cut into the ceiling for recessed lights.

So how small are we talking? DMF’s X Series gets as small as a two-inch recessed light, then increases to three-inch, four-inch, five-inch, and eventually six inches wide.

Why Use Small Aperture Lighting?

Designers use small aperture lights to create a “quiet ceiling.” DMF’s LED fixtures can still shine incredibly bright, up to 750 and even 1,500 Lumens (most lights shine around 800 to 850 Lumens). They can also be dimmed all the way down to one percent brightness. Small aperture fixtures add attractive moments of lighting without overpowering the room.

DMF: Modular & Adjustable

DMF’s lighting housings can accommodate more than recessed lights. The fixture can also accommodate down lights, wall washes, or round and square trims in different finishes and colors. DMF makes it easy to customize lighting fixtures to suit your interior design, so lights blend into the ceilings seamlessly. DMF’s trims are easy to install or swap out and work in both new construction and retrofits, so we can help you find the precise look you desire.

DMF Lighting fixtures offer limitless possibilities. If you’re interested in a home lighting design or lighting control system, contact Texadia Systems in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to learn more about our luxury lighting design services. We look forward to working with you!
