Integration

One of the most beneficial aspects of a smart system is its ability to control third-party devices. Control4 systems are compatible with many popular brands, including Nest, Sonos, Lutron, Alexa, LG, Honeywell, Josh.ai, and more.

Savant also integrates with third-party equipment, but its integration process is a bit slower than Control4’s. If you already own many smart devices, including security and audio-video, Control4 may be easier for assimilation.

User Experience

Savant is known for its sleek, beautiful interface that users instantly fall in love with. On a Savant touch screen, you’ll smoothly navigate through rooms to devices. On the flip side, the Control4 interface leads you through icons to different sub-menus.

For example, on the Control4 app, you’ll see an icon of a lightbulb with the word ‘Lighting’ below. By contrast, the Savant app displays a photographic representation of a setting overlaid with plain text.

Lights, Temperature & Security

Both Savant and Control4 can automate lighting, shading, thermostats, and security devices. But Control4 is better for deploying tech you already own and is therefore often considered the bigger player for synching up disparate functionalities.

Price

If cost makes a difference, Savant systems are typically more expensive. This is due to Savant’s costlier video switches, Savant devices, and relying heavily on Apple products like the Mac Mini.

The Final Verdict

If you already own many DIY smart devices and want a simple solution, Control4 may be the most suitable option for you. If you prefer a more eye-catching, sophisticated system, choose Savant. You can’t go wrong with either, and both make a superior smart home experience.
