Designing Your Home Theater to Look & Sound Professional

Theater Design Is Much More Than Mounting a Screen

There’s something magical about visiting the movie theater. As the lights slowly dim, you’re transported into an all-new world. Whether it’s the 1950s streets of New York in West Side Story or a desert planet in Dune, the ultra-wide screen, and all-encompassing audio brings you right into the story.

You can experience the same thrill with a home theater design done right. But a home theater requires much more than merely plugging in speakers and hanging a projector. A home theater company, like our team at Texadia Systems, uses careful installation tactics and design techniques to make home cinemas look and sound exquisite.

Read on to discover the thought and detail required for a home theater’s design process. And if you’re looking for a private cinema installation in Dallas, TX, connect with Texadia Systems here to get started!

Find the Perfect Speaker Placement

Surround sound speakers aren’t just randomly placed around the room; there’s a precise place for them all. A basic surround sound setup should include a center channel speaker above or behind the screen; left and right speakers beside the screen; left and right speakers adjacent to the seats; and a subwoofer toward one of the front corners.

High-end speakers may require specific placement and testing to sound their best. That’s because any room will create a certain level of reflection, which can distort the sound. Acoustic materials help your surround sound deliver balanced audio, which our team can install for you.

Install a Screen Proportionate to Seating

When many people attempt to DIY their home theater, they first think of the screen, then consider the seating. After all, it’s exciting to dream about how large you can go. But for the best viewing experience, we measure a room’s dimensions and factor where viewers will sit first. That way, you’ll enjoy a 15-degree sightline angle that isn’t too large and overwhelming – nor too small. Ideally, your seats should sit at a distance that’s three times the screen’s height.

Intelligent Control of Lights

It never gets old – the moment in the theater when trailers conclude and the lights slowly taper into darkness. You can experience the same anticipation through your home theater’s lighting, too. With a smart system, we can sync pathway lights, overhead bulbs, and motorized shades to activate in unison. A customized scene like “Showtime” will gradually dim ceiling lights while keeping pathway lights on, closing any shades left open. That’s how the pros do it!

Reduce Clutter with Hidden AV

You may notice in luxury home theaters that the space doesn’t feel cluttered with technology and wires. We can create a minimalistic theater in your home, too, through hidden audio and video. Surround sound speakers may be installed within the walls and ceiling while still delivering high-fidelity sound. Projectors can lift into the ceiling and stay concealed until pressing a button. And we can house all your equipment and wires in one centralized rack, hidden out of sight.

Home theater design is both a science and a craft. If you’d like to bring impressive visuals, audio, and interior design to your Dallas home, contact Texadia Systems here to kick off your theater project. We look forward to working with you!
